Specific manifestations of cervical lesions caused by chronic cervicitis

Chronic cervicitis often causes other lesions in the cervix due to long-term damage to the cervix by bacteria, which is extremely harmful. Here we briefly introduce some common special lesions in the cervix caused by chronic cervicitis .

Symptom 1: Cervical erosion

Cervical erosion is the most common pathological change of chronic cervicitis. The fine granular red area of the cervical vagina at the external cervical opening is called cervical erosion.

Symptom 2: Cervical hypertrophy

Due to the long-term stimulation of chronic cervicitis, the cervical tissue becomes congested, edematous, and the glands and stroma proliferate, causing the cervix to hypertrophy to varying degrees, but the surface is mostly smooth. Ultimately, the hardness of the cervix increases due to the proliferation of connective tissue.

Symptom 3: Cervical polyps

The long-term stimulation of chronic cervicitis causes the local cervical mucosa to proliferate. The uterus has a tendency to expel foreign bodies, causing the proliferative mucosa to gradually protrude from the basal layer to the external os of the cervix to form polyps. The polyps are red in color, brittle in texture, and prone to bleeding. Due to the presence of inflammation, polyps are often prone to recurrence after removal.

Chronic cervicitis develops slowly, and the initial symptoms are not very obvious. A preliminary diagnosis can only be made by observing abnormal vaginal discharge. The above is an introduction to the cervical lesions of patients under the influence of chronic cervicitis. For more detailed information, please consult our online experts.
