Self-distinguishing between primary and secondary amenorrhea

Self-distinguishing between primary and secondary amenorrhea

With the continuous development of society, the special physiology of women has gradually begun to be understood and paid attention to by most people. It is no longer an avoidable topic. The popularization of this aspect not only brings many benefits to mothers, including: not knowing how to explain the ins and outs of menstruation to children, not knowing when is the best time to tell their daughters, etc.

Take amenorrhea for example, there are two types: primary amenorrhea and secondary amenorrhea. So, what are the differences between primary amenorrhea and secondary amenorrhea?

Primary amenorrhea refers to the development of secondary sexual characteristics (such as a loud voice, breasts beginning to swell, and gradually showing a female body shape, etc.) at the age of sixteen, but no menstruation, or the absence of any secondary sexual characteristics at the age of fourteen. This situation is considered primary amenorrhea.

Secondary amenorrhea refers to the absence of menstruation for more than six months in a woman's reproductive age.

In addition, some female friends may not have menstruation for more than three months due to some internal or external factors, which is not secondary amenorrhea. Therefore, when you find that your menstruation is not coming in your life, and you have ruled out the possibility of pregnancy, you should go to the hospital for examination in time to determine whether you have amenorrhea.
