The difference between amenorrhea and early pregnancy

Clinically, the manifestations of amenorrhea and early pregnancy are both cessation of menstruation, so how do we distinguish between amenorrhea and early pregnancy?

If a married woman of childbearing age has always had normal and very regular menstruation, but suddenly stops having menstruation, she should first consider whether she is pregnant. In addition to amenorrhea, the clinical manifestations of early pregnancy are often accompanied by early pregnancy reactions such as nausea and vomiting, anorexia, picky eating, fatigue, laziness, love of sleep, and love of sour and spicy food. Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis shows that the pulse is mostly smooth and the radial pulse is continuous when pressed. Physical examination shows that the areola is enlarged and the pigment is darkened. Gynecological examination shows that the cervix is blue and the uterus is enlarged and softened, which are signs of pregnancy. Laboratory examination pregnancy test is positive.

Female amenorrhea is characterized by the absence of menstruation as the main clinical manifestation. Before amenorrhea, there are often irregular menstruation or other symptoms. It is followed by late menstruation, scanty menstruation, and then amenorrhea, often accompanied by lower abdominal distension and pain. It is rare for menstruation to suddenly stop. Gynecological examinations show no signs of pregnancy. Laboratory pregnancy tests are negative. Amenorrhea may not cause other symptoms. The pulse is often heavy, astringent, or weak, and a slippery pulse may also be seen.

If women of childbearing age stop menstruating, they can determine whether they are suffering from amenorrhea or pregnancy based on the different signs and symptoms. They can also go to the hospital and have an accurate diagnosis from a doctor.
