A brief discussion on the diagnostic criteria of vaginitis

Vaginitis is a common gynecological inflammation in women, which seriously threatens women's health. There are many types of vaginitis, and the diagnosis method of each type is different. So, what are the diagnostic criteria for vaginitis? Let's learn about it together.

1. Nonspecific vaginitis: In nonspecific vaginitis, the secretions are taken for smear and examined under a Gram stain microscope. Common pathogens can be found, but no fungi or Trichomonas are present.

2. Fungal vaginitis: For fungal vaginitis, take secretions for smear and use Gram stain. Under the microscope, you can find groups of Gram-positive, densely stained oval spores, or pseudohyphae and budding cells connected in chains or branches. The most reliable method is to perform fungal culture examination.

3. Trichomonas vaginitis: For trichomonas vaginitis, take the secretions and mix them with a small amount of warm saline dripped on a glass slide and examine under a microscope. Active vaginal Trichomonas can be seen. If trichomonas cannot be found in special cases, culture method can be used instead, and the test results are more accurate. So, what are the diagnostic criteria for vaginitis?

4. Senile vaginitis: The discharge examination of senile vaginitis should be distinguished from that of trichomonas and fungal vaginitis. Pay attention to the size and shape of the cervix and uterus, the source of bleeding and the results of vaginal cytology. If necessary, perform a cervical or endometrial biopsy to rule out the possibility of uterine cancer.

1. Vaginal secretions are grayish white, very viscous, even like paste, uniform and consistent, but not purulent, and the amount is uncertain. 2. The amine content in the secretions is particularly high, so it has a fishy smell. During sexual intercourse or after activities, the odor is often aggravated by the release of amines. Adding 10% potassium hydroxide to the secretions can also release the amine smell. 3. The pH value in the vaginal secretions increases and becomes alkaline. 4. Clue cells can be detected in the wet smear of vaginal secretions, which are all diagnostic criteria for vaginitis.
