Anatomical approach to the treatment of cervical polyps

Cervical polyps are one of the more common gynecological diseases. If this disease is not treated in time, it will cause many harms to the patient. Therefore, everyone must pay attention to the treatment of cervical polyps. Here we will introduce to you the methods of treating cervical polyps.

Cervical polyps are generally benign, but they often recur after removal. Cervical polyps may occasionally become malignant, with a malignancy rate of 0.2% to 0.4%. After removal, they should be routinely sent for pathological examination to avoid delaying diagnosis.

Originated from the squamous epithelium covering the surface of the cervical vagina, the polyp is pink, protruding from the squamous epithelium of the cervix, with a wide base, and a few with a thin stalk, and a tough texture. After applying 3% acetic acid, the epithelium changes slightly to white, and returns to its original state after a few seconds. The former is softer, brittle, and easy to bleed, while the latter is harder and less likely to bleed.

Regarding the treatment of cervical polyps, once cervical polyps are found, they should be surgically removed. Cervical polyp removal is relatively simple and painless. For large polyps and thick pedicles, bleeding needs to be stopped after removal. Anti-inflammatory hemostatic drugs are used for 3 days after surgery to prevent infection. Regardless of the size of the removed polyps, pathological examinations must be performed, because cervical polyps have a malignant transformation rate of 0.2%-0.4%. Women should not be careless and miss the diagnosis.

In addition, regarding the treatment of cervical polyps, although the polyps are removed, the inflammation of the cervix is not completely eliminated, so the polyps may recur. Patients should have regular check-ups to prevent problems before they occur.
