Postmenopausal women are more susceptible to vulvar leukoplakia

Vulvar leukoplakia is also known as vulvar dystrophy. Vulvar itching is the main symptom of this disease. Most patients find it unbearable. The more itchy it is, the more they scratch, resulting in more severe itching, forming a vicious cycle. The main cause of the disease is a group of chronic diseases in which the vulvar skin and mucous membranes undergo sclerosing lichenification, squamous hyperplasia and pigment changes. Because the lesions are accompanied by the whitening of the skin and mucous membranes, and the local skin becomes thicker and coarser, it is commonly known as vulvar leukoplakia.

Vulvar leukoplakia is more common in menopausal women, because women of this age generally have declining physical functions and unbalanced hormone levels in their bodies, leading to endocrine disorders, poor qi and blood function, and nutritional metabolic disorders. Vulvar leukoplakia can also occur during childbearing age.

Chronic vulvar malnutrition may also turn into cancer to a certain extent. Timely and effective drug treatment can relieve symptoms and slow down the progression of the disease. For those with proliferative malnutrition and ulceration or induration, the condition should be closely monitored and surgery should be performed if necessary to prevent accidents.

In addition, the diet should eat more foods that have anti-leukoplakia effects, such as sesame, almonds, wheat, barley, black-bone chicken, squid, chrysanthemum, black plum, peach, lychee, purslane, eel, crab, sardines, etc. Patients with severe itching should eat amaranth, cabbage, mustard, kelp, seaweed, and pangolin.
