Can an enlarged cervix infect family members?

Cervical hypertrophy is not contagious to family members. It is a non-infectious gynecological disease caused by multiple factors such as chronic inflammation, changes in hormone levels, or cervical gland cysts. Treatment requires medication, surgery, or lifestyle adjustments depending on the cause.

1. Chronic inflammation: Long-term cervicitis may lead to cervical tissue hyperplasia and cervical hypertrophy. Common inflammations include bacterial vaginitis or candidal infection. Treatments include the use of antibiotics such as metronidazole or antifungal drugs such as fluconazole, while paying attention to personal hygiene and avoiding the use of irritating cleaning products.

2. Changes in hormone levels: Abnormally elevated estrogen levels may stimulate cervical tissue proliferation, leading to hypertrophy. Polycystic ovary syndrome or long-term use of estrogen-containing drugs may cause this problem. Treatment can be with hormone-regulating drugs such as Diane-35, and the medication regimen needs to be adjusted if necessary.

3. Cervical gland cyst: Cysts formed after cervical gland obstruction may cause the cervix to increase in size. Treatments include laser therapy, cryotherapy or surgical removal of the cyst. Regular follow-up is required after surgery to ensure recovery.

4. Lifestyle adjustment: To alleviate the symptoms of cervical hypertrophy, you can take the following measures. Eat more foods rich in vitamin C and E, such as oranges and nuts, to enhance immunity. Avoid spicy and irritating foods to reduce the risk of inflammation. Moderate exercise such as yoga or brisk walking can help improve blood circulation and relieve symptoms.

Although cervical hypertrophy will not infect family members, it is necessary to seek medical attention in time and receive targeted treatment after the cause is identified. Through medication, surgery or lifestyle adjustments, the symptoms of most patients can be effectively improved. Regular gynecological examinations are an important means of preventing and early detection of cervical hypertrophy.
