Is cervical hypertrophy contagious?

Is cervical hypertrophy contagious?

Cervical hypertrophy is not contagious. It is a common gynecological disease, usually caused by chronic inflammation, changes in hormone levels or birth injuries. Treatments include medication, physical therapy and surgery, and the specific choice depends on the cause and condition.

1. Causes of cervical hypertrophy

The main cause of cervical hypertrophy is chronic cervicitis, where long-term inflammation leads to cervical tissue hyperplasia. Abnormal hormone levels, such as high estrogen levels, can also cause cervical hypertrophy. Cervical damage caused by multiple births or miscarriages, as well as pathological changes such as cervical cysts or polyps, can also lead to cervical hypertrophy.

2. Treatment of cervical hypertrophy

1. Drug treatment: For cervical hypertrophy caused by inflammation, antibiotics such as azithromycin and doxycycline can be used to control infection. For patients with abnormal hormone levels, doctors may prescribe hormone-regulating drugs such as oral contraceptives or progesterone.

2 Physical therapy: Laser therapy, cryotherapy and electrocautery are common physical therapies suitable for patients with mild to moderate cervical hypertrophy. These methods promote the restoration of the cervix to its normal shape by destroying abnormally proliferating tissue.

3. Surgical treatment: For patients with severe cervical hypertrophy or other lesions such as cervical polyps or cysts, surgical intervention may be required. Common surgical methods include cervical conization, LEEP knife surgery and cervical resection.

3. Daily care and prevention

1. Dietary adjustment: Eating more foods rich in vitamins C and E, such as citrus fruits, nuts and green leafy vegetables, can help enhance immunity and reduce inflammation.

2 Lifestyle habits: Avoid sitting for long periods of time, keep the vulva clean and dry, and choose breathable cotton underwear to reduce bacterial growth.

3. Regular check-ups: It is recommended to have a gynecological examination once a year, especially for married or sexually active women, to detect and treat cervical problems early.

Although cervical hypertrophy is not contagious, it may cause more serious gynecological problems if not treated in time. Through medication, physical therapy or surgical intervention, combined with good living habits and regular check-ups, the condition can be effectively controlled and the cervix can be maintained healthy. If abnormal symptoms occur, such as increased vaginal discharge, odor, or bleeding after sexual intercourse, you should seek medical attention in time to avoid delaying treatment.
