What are the symptoms after abortion of hydatidiform mole?

What are the symptoms after abortion of hydatidiform mole?

If persistent vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain occurs after an abortion for a hydatidiform mole, or if the hCG level does not drop, you should seek medical attention in time to avoid the occurrence of malignant lesions.

Hydatidiform mole is a pathological pregnancy with abnormal proliferation of trophoblastic cells. Even after abortion, trophoblastic tissue may still remain in the body, leading to a series of symptoms. Common symptoms include: persistent or repeated abnormal vaginal bleeding after abortion, which may be caused by continued proliferation of residual tissue; lower abdominal pain or distension, indicating incomplete uterine involution; in severe cases, it may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting and other reactions related to high hCG levels. If these symptoms fail to ease for a long time, or even if hCG levels do not decrease or increase within a few weeks after surgery, it may indicate the development of invasive hydatidiform mole or choriocarcinoma, which requires rapid intervention.

After the abortion, the serum hCG should be checked regularly according to the doctor's advice until it reaches normal levels, and B-ultrasound should be performed to monitor the uterine cavity if necessary. If the symptoms are obvious and the examination shows abnormalities, another uterine curettage and chemotherapy drugs (such as methotrexate) may be required to control the progression of the lesion. After the operation, pay attention to hygiene, avoid sexual intercourse and strenuous exercise, promote uterine recovery, and reduce the risk of infection and complications. Close monitoring and scientific care can help the body recover and reduce subsequent risks.
