After the confinement period, mothers who want to continue breastfeeding should increase their daily intake by about 500 calories to provide sufficient nutrition for their baby because it requires more calories. In addition to calories, Xinxin Clinic nutritionist Xia Ziwen reminds us that we should also add 15 grams of high-quality protein every day to improve the quality and quantity of breast milk. Nutritionist Xia Ziwen explained that breastfeeding mothers may have such doubts because of the amount of breastfeeding. Even if the mother breastfeeds for a long time, the amount squeezed out each time is only a little, and the calorie consumption is not enough, so the weight will not drop too much. At the same time, mothers should also pay attention to their diet, whether they have eaten foods that reduce milk production (such as common leeks, malt, etc.), or consumed too much fat, which causes the body fat to increase instead of decrease, and the milk will become thick and blocked.

Are these diet control methods feasible?

Losing weight can be said to be the endless pursuit of most women. There are many popular weight loss methods nowadays, such as the green latte, ketogenic diet, 168 fasting method, etc. If a postpartum mother wants to try it, is it feasible?

Nutritionist Xia Ziwen explained that green latte cannot be considered a weight loss method. It is made by mixing vegetables (which can be slightly blanched), fresh fruits, or nuts, oats, soy milk, etc. into green latte. It can only be used as one of the drinks to help balance the daily diet. The ketogenic diet is too strict and greatly increases the proportion of fat intake, so it is not suitable for postpartum mothers.

Mothers who are not breastfeeding can try a reduced-sugar diet or the 168 fasting method. Nutritionist Xia Ziwen added that if the 16/8 (eating for 8 hours and not eating for 16 hours) fasting method is difficult for the mother at first, she can start from 12/12 or 14/10. By feeling hungry at the right time, the body fat will start to burn, thus achieving the effect of reducing weight.
