Weight loss star! Eating spinach thylakoids suppresses appetite

Many people have the impression that Popeye the Sailor built up his muscles by eating spinach, but the benefits of spinach are more than that! In addition to the well-known effect of lutein in spinach on protecting eyesight, according to a recent study, eating spinach in moderation can also increase satiety, suppress appetite, reduce calorie intake, and help lose weight.

The latest research shows that eating spinach in moderation can increase satiety, suppress appetite and help lose weight.

According to the British Daily Mail, a recent study from Lund University in Sweden pointed out that a green leaf cell membrane called "thylakoid" contained in spinach can promote the body to release hormones that enhance satiety, inhibit people's "hedonic hunger" for unhealthy foods such as sweets and fast food, thereby controlling appetite and increasing satiety, helping to develop healthier eating habits, and increasing weight loss results by 43%, allowing people to lose excess weight.

Spinach Thylakoids slow digestion, increase satiety and help lose weight

The researchers recruited 38 overweight women for human testing. The subjects drank a cup of green drink before breakfast every day during the three months of the study. Without informing the subjects of their condition, they were divided into two groups. 19 participants drank 5 grams of spinach juice every day, while the other control group took a placebo, which was also a green drink.

Without knowing which group the participants belonged to, the only instruction they were given was to eat a balanced diet, which included not eating anything other than three meals a day. The results showed that the control group that drank the placebo lost an average of 3.5 kilograms per person, while the group that took spinach juice containing "thylakoids" lost an average of 5 kilograms.

If you want to lose weight successfully, it is very important to effectively suppress your appetite.

As for why the above results occurred? The research team explained that this is because the "thylakoid" green leaf cell membrane contained in spinach can slow down the body's digestion of food, allowing the small intestinal hormones sufficient time to release satisfaction to the brain, telling it that it is full.

Simply put, the thylakoid components in spinach can enhance the body's sense of fullness, prevent cravings and increased appetite, and reduce the chance of eating unnecessary snacks, sweets, potato chips and other unnecessary foods. It can help people who want to lose weight or are currently losing weight to develop healthier eating habits, reduce total calorie intake, and improve weight loss results.
