Fat women have many hidden concerns: cancer and infertility

(Text by Dr. Zhao Qingxin, Chief Chinese Medicine Practitioner of the People’s Hospital)

Weight is an important indicator of physical health. Many women regard losing weight as a lifelong "career". But what exactly is considered obesity? How can I lose weight effectively and quickly? Now I will teach you how to be a smart woman who knows how to be healthy and enjoy being thin.

BMI—the authoritative standard for judging obesity

In fact, the simple weight number is not the standard to measure fatness or thinness. Obesity refers to a body fat content that exceeds the reasonable level, but having more body fat is different from being overweight. The most widely used method for determining weight is the Body Mass Index, or BMI (Body Mass Index). The body mass index (BMI) is an internationally unified standard for determining obesity recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), but the body characteristic standards are slightly different. We can judge whether we are obese based on BMI.

4 major hazards of obesity to women

1. Causing serious cardiovascular diseases - obese women have higher cholesterol and triglycerides in their blood. Studies have shown that those with a BMI ≥ 24 have a 3 to 4 times higher risk of developing hypertension than those with normal weight.

2. Causing the terrible diabetes - obese people have more fat cells and the number of insulin receptors they carry is relatively fixed. Studies have shown that people with a BMI ≥ 24 have a 2 to 3 times higher risk of developing diabetes than those with normal weight.

3. Causes fatal cancer - high fat in obese women's bodies can affect the secretion and metabolism of estrogen, causing cancers related to abnormal estrogen metabolism, such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, etc.

4. Causing heartbreaking infertility - The fat stored under the skin of obese people can stimulate the endometrium, causing menstrual disorders, leading to ovulation disorders such as anovulation and delayed ovulation, which can easily cause infertility.

Did you know? Is dieting unhealthy?

Almost every woman who wants to lose weight has tried dieting, but dieting does not mean not eating or eating only one apple a day. These are all unhealthy ways to lose weight and are of course extremely harmful to the body. Dieting to lose weight should be gradual. While controlling calorie intake, it is necessary to ensure the intake of essential nutrients for the human body. This is considered a healthy way to lose weight.
