Walking for one hour a day can reduce the risk of obesity by half

After a busy day at work, your butt is almost rooted to the chair. Many office workers have seriously deformed their bodies over the years, but they always think that exercise is too troublesome and continue to let their weight soar. American scholars recently proposed a study showing that simply walking every day can easily suppress the effects of obesity genes, which is really good news.

TIME magazine reported on the 15th that at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association, scholars discussed the topic of "How daily routines change genes." Among them, scholars from Harvard University pointed out that maintaining a habit of walking for one hour a day can reduce the effectiveness of specific obesity genes by 50%; conversely, sitting in front of the TV for two hours a day as a "couch potato" will drive the effect of obesity genes and gradually change the body shape.

Researchers have previously discovered 32 sets of genes that affect the Body Mass Index (BMI) in humans, and each set of genes is inherited from one parent, so theoretically there will be 64 variants; but these obesity genes only affect the human body to a maximum of 43 variants, and a minimum of only 10. So, when converted, each set of obesity genes affects the BMI index by about 0.13kg/m2. For people who walk for one hour every day, the influence parameter of this gene can be reduced to 0.6kg/m2. However, for people who sit in a chair for more than 2 hours a day, this influence parameter will surge to 0.3kg/m2. Therefore, the statement that walking can help lose weight is well-founded.

When people are used to sitting still for a long time reading, using the computer or watching TV, they will unconsciously want to pass the time by eating, and the frequency of getting up to exercise will naturally decrease. When the calories in food and the obesity gene "complement each other", the accumulated weight will naturally be considerable. Don't hesitate any longer, get up and move!
