Council of Agriculture: No Clenbuterol Detected in Taiwan Livestock Xindongyang

In response to the suspected detection of salbutamol and cimaterol beta-receptor tropism in commercially available meat products, Taiwan Livestock and Hsin Dong Yang Original Sausage, the Council of Agriculture immediately conducted product production tracing and required the industry to recall the products first. The recalled products were traced back to Taiwan Livestock Original Sausage and Hsin Dong Yang DHA Original Sausage. The Council of Agriculture has sent the same batch of products to the Central Livestock Industry Council for testing of beta-receptor hormones, and the results are out, showing no detection of any of them.

The test results have confirmed that the sausage products of Taishou and Xindongyang do not contain salbutamol residues.

Recently, the media reported that I-Mei's laboratory tests on commercially available pork and sausages found salbutamol residues, including CAS products, causing a major blow to the consumer confidence of the Chinese people.

Xu Guisen, director of the Animal Husbandry Department of the Council of Agriculture, said that since the test results are significantly different from the results of the Council's long-term testing of CAS products, the council believes it is necessary to reconfirm them. In addition, there are many private laboratories in the country, and the announcement of their test results should be very cautious to avoid causing panic among consumers.

Since the I-Mei Company laboratory does not include beta-receptor receptors in the inspection items commissioned by external parties, and currently there are only two inspection agencies approved by the Department of Health, Executive Yuan to inspect beta-receptors: SGS (Taiwan Testing Technology) Taipei Food Laboratory and the Central Animal Husbandry Council, the Council of Agriculture requires the industry to send the recalled products to a laboratory approved by the Department of Health, Executive Yuan to inspect beta-receptors for further inspection and confirmation. The Council will then send the recalled products to the Central Animal Husbandry Council for inspection to clarify the facts.

Xu Guisen emphasized that the test results have confirmed that the sausage products of Taiwan Livestock and Xindongyang companies do not contain salbutamol residues. The Council of Agriculture emphasized that it has strengthened the implementation of CAS verification management to ensure consumer safety for the people of Taiwan. Industry players have all agreed and cooperated with the council's strengthened measures to work together for Taiwan's excellent agricultural product brands. CAS products are of excellent quality, hygienic, safe and reliable, and are worthy of the people's trust.
