What causes cervicitis?

What causes cervicitis?

Cervicitis is an inflammation caused by the invasion of pathogens due to various irritations and injuries to the cervix. The causes of the disease are varied, including sexual behavior, childbirth, surgical operations, personal hygiene habits, etc. The pathological types of cervicitis are divided into acute and chronic types, of which chronic cervicitis is more common.

1. Sexual behavior: Unhealthy sexual behaviors such as unclean sexual behavior, multiple sexual partners, early sexual life, and using condoms during sexual intercourse can easily cause cervical damage and infection, leading to cervicitis.

2. Delivery and surgical procedures: Delivery, curettage, artificial abortion and other surgical procedures can damage the cervix, making it easy for pathogens to invade and cause cervicitis.

3. Mechanical stimulation: Using rough vaginal cleaning methods, inserting vaginal drugs, placing intrauterine contraceptive devices, etc. may cause mechanical stimulation to the cervix and cause cervicitis.

4. Pathogen infection: Infection with pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Mycoplasma genitalium is also a common cause of cervicitis.

5. Personal hygiene habits: Not paying attention to the cleanliness of private parts, leading to vaginal flora disorder; allergies to certain substances in the douching agent; intrauterine contraceptive device causing irritation or damage to the cervix, etc. may all cause cervicitis.

6. Other factors: Factors such as low immune function and vaginal pH imbalance may also increase the risk of cervicitis.

There are many causes of cervicitis, including unclean sexual behavior, childbirth and surgical operations, mechanical stimulation, pathogen infection, personal hygiene habits, etc. Prevention of cervicitis requires multiple aspects, including paying attention to personal hygiene habits, avoiding unclean sexual behavior, and regular gynecological examinations. At the same time, patients who already have cervicitis should seek medical treatment and receive treatment in time to avoid worsening of the disease.
