Should pelvic effusion be examined by B-ultrasound?

The main symptom of pelvic effusion is increased vaginal discharge. Patients with pelvic effusion should not be overworked, and should combine work and rest, and moderate sexual intercourse to avoid worsening symptoms. So, should pelvic effusion be examined by B-ultrasound?

Pelvic effusion is the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvic cavity. It can occur after the endometrium becomes inflamed. The slightly viscous fluid exudates from the swollen cells of the endometrial tissue and is gradually wrapped by the surrounding tissue to form a cystic mass. The following is a detailed introduction to the examination items that need to be done for pelvic effusion.

1. Ultrasound examination

It mainly refers to B-type or grayscale ultrasound scanning and filming, which has an 85% accuracy in identifying masses or abscesses formed by adhesions of the fallopian tubes, ovaries and intestines. Because mild or moderate pelvic inflammatory disease is difficult to show characteristics in B-type ultrasound images, it is generally used to diagnose more severe pelvic inflammatory disease.

2. Routine blood test, routine urine test, erythrocyte sedimentation rate

The white blood cell examination in the routine blood test is meaningful for the diagnosis of inflammation. Trichomonas vaginitis, mucopurulent cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease have more white blood cells, while bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis have fewer white blood cells.

3. Laparoscopy

It can be used for the definitive diagnosis and differential diagnosis of acute pelvic inflammatory disease, and can also make a preliminary judgment on the severity of pelvic inflammatory disease. Laparoscopy can be performed on patients with pelvic inflammatory disease, suspected pelvic inflammatory disease, and other acute abdominal diseases.

It can be seen that pelvic effusion does not necessarily require B-ultrasound examination, but B-ultrasound can detect pelvic effusion. It is necessary to understand its preventive measures and take corresponding prevention measures. The prevention of pelvic effusion focuses on clean sexual intercourse. In female internal genital inflammation, adnexitis, and pelvic inflammatory infection, unclean sexual intercourse is an important pathogenic factor.
