How to treat pelvic effusion after gastric cancer surgery

Pelvic effusion after gastric cancer surgery is a postoperative complication, and the cause of the occurrence is considered to be related to peritoneal implantation of gastric cancer. At this time, how should pelvic effusion after gastric cancer surgery be treated?

If the amount of fluid accumulation is small, chemotherapy or drug therapy is recommended to control the fluid accumulation. If the amount of fluid accumulation is large, it needs to be extracted. The specific needs need to be considered in combination with the patient's condition.

The method of TCM treatment is generally Chinese medicine treatment:

The main purpose is to clear away heat and dampness. The prescription is to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. The prescription is as follows: Danshen 18g, red peony root 15g, costus root 12g, peach kernel 9g, honeysuckle 30g, dandelion 30g, Poria 12g, moutan bark 9g, and raw earth 9g. When the pain is severe, add Yanhusuo 9g. Some patients are of cold stagnation and qi stagnation type, and the treatment principle is to warm the meridians and dispel cold, promote qi and activate blood circulation. For those with qi deficiency, add Codonopsis pilosula 15g, Atractylodes macrocephala 9g, and Astragalus 15g.

In Western medicine, symptomatic antibiotics combined with other treatments are the main treatment.

There are also physical therapies: warm and benign stimulation can promote local blood circulation in the pelvic cavity, improve the nutritional status of tissues, increase metabolism, and facilitate the absorption and disappearance of inflammation. Commonly used methods include wax therapy, etc.

Since gastric cancer patients are usually very weak after surgery, although there is a surgical treatment for pelvic effusion, it is usually more serious. The pelvic effusion that occurs after surgery is not serious enough to require surgical treatment, so surgical treatment is usually not adopted.

Since it is postoperative for gastric cancer, the postoperative complications should be prevented and treated while treating pelvic effusion. More importantly, it is the key to restore the body as soon as possible and strengthen the body's resistance.
