How to check for premature ovarian failure

How to check for premature ovarian failure?

Premature ovarian failure refers to early ovarian insufficiency. Early ovarian insufficiency can be diagnosed through physical examination by a doctor, drug withdrawal test, progesterone test, imaging examination, chromosome karyotype examination, etc.

1. Doctor's physical examination:

Early ovarian insufficiency refers to the loss of normal ovarian function in women around 40 years old. Causes include chromosomal abnormalities, abnormal autoimmune mechanisms, etc. Symptoms generally manifest as secondary amenorrhea and infertility. It can be diagnosed by a doctor, who mainly observes the patient's systemic development and deformities. It is also necessary to pay attention to the development of female breasts, pubic hair and axillary hair, and check whether the genitals are abnormal.

2. Drug withdrawal test:

The main purpose is to evaluate the estrogen level in the body. If the estrogen level in the body is low, amenorrhea and prolonged menstrual cycles will occur, which can be used to determine whether there is early ovarian insufficiency.

3. Progesterone test:

You need to take progesterone capsules regularly. If you have vaginal bleeding after stopping the medication, it means that the endometrium is affected by the estrogen level. If there is no withdrawal bleeding after stopping the medication, further examination is needed.

4. Imaging examination:

The size of the uterus is usually observed to understand whether there are follicles or the number of follicles in the ovaries.

5. Chromosome karyotype examination:

The test mainly checks whether the 46 chromosomes are abnormal. If there is only one normal X chromosome and the other chromosomes are defective, it is judged as early ovarian insufficiency.

Patients with early ovarian insufficiency can take estradiol valerate tablets, progesterone capsules, dydrogesterone tablets and other drugs under the guidance of a doctor. If the condition continues to worsen, they need to receive treatment.
