What is ovarian cyst? What causes it?

Ovarian cysts refer to cystic tumors in the ovaries, which can be classified into benign and malignant, cystic and solid. What is a left ovarian cyst? What is the cause?

Ovarian cysts are common benign tumors of the female reproductive organs. Chinese medicine calls them "stone masses" and "intestinal masses". They are divided into mucinous cystadenoma, serous cystadenoma, benign teratoma, fibroma, testicular blastoma and other types. They are common in young women aged 20-50. Due to factors such as long-term dietary structure, poor living habits, and excessive psychological pressure, the body's overall function and immune function decline, which develops into abnormal proliferation of ovarian tissue and eventually leads to ovarian cysts.

Symptoms of ovarian cysts include:

1. Increased abdominal circumference and swollen abdomen

This is the most common phenomenon of patients. Patients notice that their clothes or belts look tight, so they notice that their abdomen is enlarged, or they notice it by chance in the morning, so they find that their abdomen is swollen, coupled with abdominal distension and discomfort.

2. Abdominal pain

If the tumor is uncomplicated, pain is rare. Patients with ovarian tumors experience abdominal pain, especially when it occurs suddenly, which is mostly caused by torsion of the tumor pedicle and occasionally by cyst rupture, bleeding, or infection.

3. Menstrual disorders

Ovarian cysts on one or even both ovaries do not cause menstrual disorders because they do not destroy all the normal ovarian tissue.

4. Compression symptoms

Large ovarian cysts can cause dyspnea and palpitations, as can large amounts of ascites. However, dyspnea in some patients with ovarian cysts is caused by fluid accumulation in one or both chest areas, often combined with ascites.
