How to distinguish between ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids

How to differentiate between ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids?

However, in some cases, uterine fibroids are difficult to distinguish from ovarian tumors. There are certain difficulties in distinguishing between subserosal uterine fibroids and solid ovarian tumors; cystic fibroids and cystic ovarian tumors with great tension, or ovarian cysts and uterine adhesions.

1. Medical history

A detailed understanding of the menstrual history and the growth rate of the abdominal mass is needed. Malignant ovarian tumors grow faster.

2. Physical examination

During gynecological examination, subserosal uterine fibroids can move with the movement of the uterus. However, if the ovarian cyst is adhered to the uterus, it can also move with the movement of the uterus.

3. Differences in clinical manifestations

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the female genitalia. Patients generally have no obvious symptoms. If there are symptoms, they are mostly manifested as abnormal menstruation, lower abdominal masses, compression symptoms, etc. Ovarian tumors are a general term for ovarian swelling, enlargement, and neoplasms. Patients generally have no menstrual changes. The two can generally be distinguished by B-ultrasound. When it is difficult to distinguish, laparoscopy can be used to make a clear diagnosis.

Of course, we should pay attention to larger cysts, because our ovaries are only the size of a walnut. The following symptoms may indicate ovarian cysts:

1. Dysmenorrhea: Those who did not have dysmenorrhea before begin to have dysmenorrhea or the dysmenorrhea continues to worsen.

2. Menstrual disorders: The previously regular menstruation becomes completely irregular, often making you feel flustered.

3. Infertility: Ovarian cysts are a cause of infertility. This has no direct relationship with the size of the cyst, and the reason remains to be determined.
