How dangerous is a Bartholin's gland cyst?

What are the hazards of Bartholin's gland cysts? Bartholin's gland cysts belong to the category of "yin sores" in traditional Chinese medicine. Due to emotional discomfort, liver qi stagnation, or cold evil invading and stagnating in the liver meridian, it can lead to poor circulation of qi and blood and local stagnation; the hazards to women are as follows:

1. The vestibular glands are located at the back of the vulva majora on both sides, and the gland duct opens on the inner side of the vulva minora, close to the membrane of unmarried women. Due to the characteristics of the anatomical location, when sexual intercourse, childbirth or other situations contaminate the vulva, pathogens can easily soak in and cause inflammation.

2. If a woman is infected with a Bartholin's gland cyst and not treated in time, the cyst may spread backwards, forming an abscess around the rectum, and sometimes even a rectal ulcer. When palpated, a small, hard nodule can be felt, with slight tenderness. When squeezed, pus can sometimes flow out of the fistula. Sometimes the fistula will close or narrow on its own, and pus will accumulate, forming an abscess again. It may also recur and not heal for a long time.

3. The disease is mostly unilateral or bilateral. It is asymptomatic for a long time and is often found during gynecological examinations. The cyst grows slowly and is generally no larger than an egg. Larger cysts can cause swelling of the vulva and sexual discomfort. Examination can reveal that the mass occupies the middle and lower third of the entire genitals, the genitals are completely flat, and the vaginal opening is pushed to the healthy side. When the vestibular gland cyst is infected, it can form an abscess, and repeated infection can expand the cyst.

A reminder to fellow patients: Vestibular gland cysts are very harmful and can seriously affect women's normal life. You must be lucky and delay treatment, otherwise you may suffer unimaginable consequences.
