Will the IUD cause post-menstrual bleeding?

The IUD generally refers to the intrauterine contraceptive ring. Wearing an intrauterine contraceptive ring can cause postmenstrual bleeding. Postmenstrual bleeding may also be caused by endometritis, cervicitis, etc., and requires targeted treatment based on the cause.

1. Wearing an intrauterine device: Women who do not want to prepare for pregnancy can place an intrauterine device in the uterine cavity to prevent sperm and egg from combining and achieve the purpose of contraception. Wearing an intrauterine device may cause damage to the endometrium and may also cause aseptic inflammation of the endometrium. A small amount of bleeding after menstruation is a normal phenomenon and usually does not require special treatment.

2. Endometritis: If you have sex too early after wearing an intrauterine contraceptive ring, or if the vulva is not cleaned properly, it is easy to cause endometritis. Inflammation will irritate the local area, causing congestion and swelling, and abnormal vaginal bleeding. You can take oral penicillin V potassium tablets, roxithromycin capsules, cefoperazone capsules and other drugs under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Cervicitis: If the patient does not take good care of himself or has unclean sexual intercourse, which can easily cause cervicitis, wearing an intrauterine contraceptive ring may lead to worsening of the disease, contact bleeding, abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge, etc. It is recommended to take oral drugs such as levofloxacin hydrochloride capsules, clindamycin hydrochloride capsules, and cefuroxime axetil tablets under the guidance of a doctor.

In addition to the common causes mentioned above, uterine fibroids may also be the cause, which can be treated by myomectomy. During the treatment, personal care should be done and the vulva area should be washed regularly with warm water to help the body recover.
