How to prevent senile vaginitis?

Senile vaginitis: refers to inflammation caused by bacterial infection due to the decline of vaginal physiological defense function in elderly women before and after menopause. Before and after menopause, with the decline of ovarian function, estrogen levels decrease, vaginal epithelium atrophies and thins, cell volume decreases, and sugar and lactic acid decomposed in cells decrease. The highly acidic environment PH4.0-4.5, which originally had a self-cleaning effect in the body during the reproductive period, gradually changes to alkaline PH6-8, and the vaginal defense function is weakened, which is very conducive to the reproduction of various bacteria, thus causing vaginal inflammation.

The clinical manifestations of senile vaginitis are: the vagina is clean for a period of time after menopause, but gradually becomes dry, itchy or dry, and there may be little secretion, or a small amount of light yellow secretion. Gynecological examination can find that the vaginal wall is thin and shiny, and there are scattered or large amounts of punctate congestion or oozing blood on the mucosa.

In the treatment of senile vaginitis, the protective function of the vagina should be strengthened according to its physiological characteristics.

1. Use vaginal and vulva cleaning method. The cleaning solution should be acidic to compensate for the weakening of physiological acidity in the elderly. 1% lactic acid or 0.5% acetic acid can be used to wash the vagina. Try not to use potassium permanganate PP solution for sitz bath to prevent the local skin and mucous membrane from becoming more dry and itchy due to the astringent effect due to improper concentration control or long-term use.

2. In view of the characteristics of the elderly, estrogen can be used locally or systemically in combination with treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Pay attention to maintaining vaginal hygiene and wash it with warm water once every night.
