Severe abnormal vaginal discharge may be a sign of gynecological disease, and you need to see a doctor in time. Abnormal vaginal discharge usually manifests as changes in color, odor, texture or amount, which may be related to infection, hormone imbalance or gynecological disease. There are many reasons for abnormal leucorrhea, the most common ones are bacterial vaginitis, candidal vaginitis and trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginitis is usually caused by an imbalance of vaginal flora, which manifests as grayish-white discharge with a fishy smell. Candidal vaginitis is mostly caused by infection with Candida albicans, and the leucorrhea is tofu-like and accompanied by vulvar itching. Trichomonas vaginitis is caused by infection with Trichomonas, and the leucorrhea is yellow-green, foamy, and accompanied by a peculiar smell. Gynecological inflammations such as cervicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and endometritis may also cause abnormal leucorrhea. Changes in hormone levels, such as pregnancy, menopause, or taking birth control pills, may also affect the characteristics of leucorrhea. In severe cases, abnormal leucorrhea may be associated with malignant diseases such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. Treatment for abnormal leucorrhea should be based on the cause. Bacterial vaginitis is often treated with metronidazole or clindamycin, fungal vaginitis can be treated with fluconazole or clotrimazole suppositories, and Trichomonas vaginitis requires oral metronidazole or tinidazole. For cervicitis or pelvic inflammatory disease, antibiotic treatment may be required, such as azithromycin or doxycycline. Abnormal leucorrhea caused by hormonal imbalance can be improved by adjusting hormone levels, such as using low-dose contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy. If abnormal leucorrhea is related to a malignant disease, surgery, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy should be selected according to the condition. In daily life, keep the vulva clean and dry, avoid using irritating lotions, choose cotton underwear and change it frequently. In terms of diet, eat more foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt, which helps maintain the balance of vaginal flora. Avoid excessive vaginal washing to avoid destroying the normal flora. If abnormal vaginal discharge persists or worsens, accompanied by abdominal pain, fever and other symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately to avoid delaying the condition. |
