What's wrong with abnormal vaginal discharge with a weak odor?

Abnormal vaginal discharge with a mild odor may be caused by an imbalance of vaginal flora, a mild infection, or hormonal fluctuations. Usually, there is no need to worry too much, but it cannot be ignored. Leucorrhea is a "barometer" of the health of the female reproductive system. Normally, it is transparent or milky white, thin or slightly sticky, and has no obvious odor. If the color, texture, or amount of vaginal discharge changes, but the odor is mild, it may be a slight signal from the body.

There are many kinds of microorganisms in the vagina, which work together to maintain a delicate balance. When this balance is broken, such as due to stress, improper diet, decreased immunity or excessive local cleaning, leucorrhea may become abnormal. Common minor abnormalities include increased leucorrhea, yellowish or greenish color, but no obvious smell. This situation may be related to mild bacterial vaginitis or candida infection, but it may also be a normal physiological change during ovulation or before and after menstruation.

If abnormal vaginal discharge is accompanied by mild itching or discomfort, you can try to adjust your lifestyle to improve it. For example, avoid using perfumed lotions or soaps to clean your private parts, choose breathable cotton underwear, and keep the area dry and clean. In terms of diet, you can increase the intake of foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt and fermented foods, to help regulate the balance of vaginal flora. At the same time, reduce the intake of high-sugar and high-fat foods to avoid aggravating inflammatory reactions.

If abnormal vaginal discharge persists for more than a week, or is accompanied by obvious discomfort, such as itching, burning, pain, etc., it is recommended to seek medical attention in time. The doctor may perform a routine vaginal discharge examination or a colposcopy to determine whether there is an infection or other problem. Minor infections can be treated with topical or oral medications, but they must be used under the guidance of a doctor to avoid self-medication that may worsen the condition.
