Why does pelvic inflammatory disease affect fertility?

What are the hazards of pelvic inflammatory disease? What are the effects of pelvic inflammatory disease on women's health? Why does pelvic inflammatory disease affect fertility? Will pelvic inflammatory disease cause infertility?

Inflammation of the female pelvic cavity and reproductive organs, including the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, pelvic peritoneum, and connective tissue surrounding the uterus, is collectively known as pelvic inflammatory disease.

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a relatively common gynecological disease, which is particularly common in some countries with disordered sexual life and rampant sexually transmitted diseases. Although pelvic inflammatory disease caused by sexually transmitted diseases is rare in my country, the following factors are related to the onset of pelvic inflammatory disease:

lPoor personal hygiene conditions.

2. Widespread use of intrauterine contraceptive devices.

3. Postpartum infection and post-abortion infection.

4. Not enough attention is paid to aseptic operation before and during certain minor gynecological surgeries.

5. Unclean sexual intercourse or sexual intercourse during menstruation, etc.

Pelvic inflammatory disease is often a mixed infection caused by more than one pathogen. Although pathogens can be transmitted through blood or lymph, and sometimes spread directly from nearby tissues or organs, the vast majority of pelvic inflammatory diseases are caused by pathogens in the vagina that travel along the mucosal surface to the pelvic organs. Inflammation of reproductive organs and surrounding tissues is often not isolated, but affects each other and becomes inflamed at the same time.

After suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease, if the fallopian tubes are also affected, it will cause adhesions in the tubal lumen and complete blockage, which may affect future pregnancy and cause infertility; if the inflammation is limited to the pelvic connective tissue and the fallopian tubes are not affected, it will not affect reproductive function.
