Is it normal to feel waist discomfort and want to lie down before menstruation?

If you feel discomfort in your waist and want to lie down before your period, it may be due to normal physiological reasons. However, it is abnormal if it is due to pathological reasons, such as pelvic inflammation, retroverted uterus, etc.

1. Physiological reasons: Before menstruation, women's hormone secretion levels will be unbalanced, and hormone secretion will stimulate the waist muscles, causing symptoms such as low back pain and abdominal distension. If the waist is cold, physically fatigued, etc., it will also cause waist pain. Patients can usually pay more attention to rest.

2. Pelvic inflammation: During menstruation, hormone levels in the body will change. When the body's immune function declines, endocrine changes will lead to inflammation, irritating the pelvis, causing congestion of pelvic tissues, leading to discomfort such as low back pain and soreness. You can use levofloxacin tablets, metronidazole capsules, and cefazolin sodium injection and other drugs for treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Retroverted uterus: Retroverted uterus means that the uterus as a whole tilts backwards, and the angle between the uterine body and the cervix becomes smaller, which can cause dysmenorrhea, low back pain, and other symptoms. Multiple delivery injuries and poor postpartum uterine involution are the causes of retroverted uterus. Patients can be treated through pelvic floor muscle training, pelvic floor muscle physical therapy, and removal of residual uterine tissue.

In addition to the common causes mentioned above, it may also be caused by lumbar muscle injury and other reasons, which require timely treatment after the cause is identified.
