Do I still need to do TCT and HPV after menopause?

TCT is the abbreviation of liquid-based thin-layer cytology test. HPV generally refers to human papillomavirus. Usually, these two tests are also required after menopause. Some menopausal women over 65 years old, who have normal previous examinations, may not need to undergo these two tests again; it is also necessary to comprehensively judge whether the examination is needed based on the patient's age, personal condition, etc. The specific situation analysis is as follows:

TCT is done by brushing cervical cells, and HPV testing is mainly done by staining microscopy or serology to check whether the patient has human papillomavirus. These two tests are used to screen for early cervical cancer and cervical precancerous lesions. Generally, women over the age of 21 who have sexual life need to be tested.

Postmenopausal women who are under 65 years old also need to undergo regular checkups. In addition, women who are over 65 years old but have high-grade lesions also need to undergo regular reexaminations of liquid-based thin-layer cytology and human papillomavirus testing after normalization after treatment.

For postmenopausal women aged 65 years and over, if the results of these two tests were within the normal range before, the possibility of disease is small and the examination can usually be stopped.
