The difference between miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy symptoms

There are significant differences in the symptoms of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy, which can be distinguished from the degree of abdominal pain, bleeding, and the degree of cervical opening, as follows:

1. Degree of abdominal pain: During miscarriage, there will be paroxysmal severe pain in the middle of the lower abdomen. When an ectopic pregnancy ruptures, the nature of the pain is a tearing pain in the lower abdomen on one side, which will then spread to the entire abdominal cavity and cause acute abdomen.

2. Bleeding degree: The amount of bleeding is generally small in the early stage of miscarriage. If the fetus is not treated in time, the bleeding will gradually increase, and the color will be bright red, accompanied by blood clots, decidual tissue discharge and abdominal pain. The bleeding of ectopic pregnancy is generally small in amount, dark in color, or dark brown, and a small amount of decidual tissue may be discharged.

3. Openness of the cervix: After a miscarriage, the cervix will be open and there will be no tenderness when palpating the abdomen. However, in the case of an ectopic pregnancy, the cervix is closed and there may be tenderness when palpating the abdomen.

Usually, B-ultrasound and HCG can be used to determine whether an ectopic pregnancy is present. If the mass is small, conservative treatment can be chosen. If the mass is large, surgical treatment can be considered. If the ectopic pregnancy ruptures and bleeds, it is necessary to go to the hospital for surgical treatment in time.
