Is it serious if cervical erosion bleeds when touched?

Cervical erosion refers to the ectopic cervical columnar epithelium, which is a physiological change. The ectopic cervical columnar epithelium bleeds when touched, which is usually more serious. When this symptom occurs, it may be caused by cervical leukoplakia, cervicitis, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, etc. It must be taken seriously. It should be clear whether the nature of the bleeding is caused by inflammation or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. It is recommended to go to the hospital's gynecology department in time for a cervical TCT examination (cervical liquid-based thin layer cell test), HPV examination, colposcopy, etc. If necessary, it may be necessary to take a live tissue of the cervix for pathological examination.

1. Leukoplakia of the cervix: Leukoplakia of the cervix may be caused by bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Patients may experience symptoms such as increased vaginal discharge, vaginal bleeding or itching. For leukoplakia of the cervix that causes symptoms, physical therapy or cervical conization surgery can be given according to the situation.

2. Cervicitis: Due to the stimulation of inflammation, patients with cervicitis may have congestion and edema of part of the cervical tissue. During sexual intercourse or contact during cervical examination, it may cause ectopic cervical columnar epithelium accompanied by contact bleeding. Generally, vaginal medication is given for anti-inflammatory and hemostatic treatment, such as Xiaomi suppository, Baofukang suppository, polycresol sulfonaldehyde suppository, etc. During the treatment period, sexual intercourse should be prohibited, and attention should be paid to rest and bleeding should be observed.

3. Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia: After cervical columnar epithelium ectopia, if there is human papillomavirus infection in the cervix, it can cause cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, causing contact bleeding during sexual intercourse. Cervical conization or Lip knife surgery can be performed under the guidance of a doctor. Observe the amount of bleeding after surgery and pay attention to reexamination.

Another possible cause of this symptom is cervical cancer. If vaginal bleeding is confirmed to be caused by cervical cancer, the surgical plan can be determined based on the patient's age and whether there is a desire to have children, including cervical removal or total hysterectomy.
