Moxibustion of the lower abdomen for pelvic inflammatory disease needs to be treated differently according to different symptoms. For pelvic inflammatory disease caused by cold and dampness stagnation, moxibustion can generally be used; for those with damp-heat stasis, moxibustion is not recommended. The details are as follows: Pelvic inflammatory disease is a common and frequently occurring disease among women. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the lesions of pelvic inflammatory disease are related to the liver, spleen and kidney, involving the Chong and Ren meridians, and are caused by damp-heat stagnation or cold-damp stagnation. For those with cold-damp stagnation, moxibustion therapy can regulate the spleen and stomach, promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and unblock the Chong and Ren meridians; while for those with damp-heat stagnation, moxibustion is not recommended, otherwise it will easily cause the disease to linger. In clinical practice, for pelvic inflammatory disease, regardless of the course of the disease, the acupoints for moxibustion generally include Yinjiao, Tianshu, Zhongji, Qihai, Uterus, Guanyuan, etc. The specific acupoint locations are as follows: 1. Yinjiao point: lower abdomen, on the midline, 1 inch below the navel; 2. Tianshu point: 2 inches away from the navel; 3. Zhongji point: lower abdomen, on the midline, 4 inches below the navel; 4. Uterus point: 3 inches away from Zhongji point; 5. Guanyuan Point: Lower abdomen, on the midline, 4 inches below the navel. When B-ultrasound of patients with pelvic inflammatory disease indicates pelvic effusion, moxibustion can also be used to promote the absorption of pelvic effusion. |
