What is menopausal syndrome?

Menopausal syndrome refers to a series of physical and psychological symptoms caused by fluctuations or decreases in sex hormones in women before and after menopause.

1. Recent symptoms:

Menstrual irregularities: During premenopause, a woman's menstrual cycles may become irregular. The menstrual cycle may become longer or shorter, the duration of the menstrual period may become longer, and the menstrual flow may become heavier or lighter. These changes are mainly caused by irregular ovulation or anovulation.

Hot flashes and vasomotor instability: Many women experience hot flashes, which feel like sudden waves of heat and are accompanied by sweating. This condition is often very uncomfortable and sometimes disrupts sleep.

Palpitations and dizziness: Some women experience a rapid or irregular heartbeat or even dizziness during menopause. These symptoms may be due to fluctuating hormone levels.

Insomnia and tinnitus: Decreased sleep quality and tinnitus are also common symptoms of menopausal syndrome. Insomnia may be caused by hot flashes and palpitations, while tinnitus may be related to unstable vasomotor function.

2. Long-term symptoms:

Urogenital tract symptoms: After menopause, women may experience atrophy of their urogenital tract. Common manifestations include vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and recurrent urogenital tract infections. These symptoms are mainly due to a drop in estrogen levels.

Osteoporosis and bone loss: After menopause, women are at increased risk for osteoporosis. The decrease in estrogen can lead to decreased bone density and an increased risk of fractures.

3. Countermeasures:

Lifestyle adjustments: Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help relieve symptoms of menopausal syndrome. It is recommended to maintain a balanced diet, consume enough calcium and vitamin D, get enough physical exercise, and keep your weight within a healthy range.

Psychological adjustment: The psychological changes during menopause should not be ignored. Women can relieve anxiety and stress through meditation, yoga and other relaxation methods. If necessary, they can seek help from a psychological counselor.

Drug treatment: Under the guidance of a doctor, appropriate drug treatment can effectively relieve the symptoms of menopausal syndrome. For example, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can help relieve hot flashes and osteoporosis, but it needs to be carried out under the strict supervision of a doctor.

4. Regular inspection:

Bone density testing: Regular bone density testing can detect the risk of osteoporosis early so that appropriate preventive measures can be taken.

Gynecological examination: Perform regular gynecological examinations to understand the health of the urogenital tract and to detect and treat possible problems in a timely manner.

Menopause is a natural stage in a woman's life. Although it brings some discomfort, it is completely possible to get through this period smoothly through scientific management and a positive attitude. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, regular check-ups, and taking medication when necessary can help women better cope with menopause.
