What medicines should patients with bacterial vaginosis use?

Patients with bacterial vaginitis can use metronidazole, tinidazole, clindamycin, chloramphenicol, azithromycin and other drugs for treatment as prescribed by the doctor. Since the cause and treatment of vaginitis require caution, it is recommended to use drugs under the guidance of a professional doctor and do not take drugs without authorization.

1. Metronidazole

Metronidazole is suitable for bacterial vaginitis caused by anaerobic infection. The drug can effectively inhibit or kill anaerobic bacteria. When taking it orally, attention should be paid to dosage control to avoid overdose to reduce possible side effects.

2. Tinidazole

Tinidazole can be used to treat bacterial vaginitis. It has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect and has good antibacterial activity against a variety of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. This product can pass through the placental barrier and is contraindicated for pregnant women.

3. Clindamycin

Clindamycin is effective for treating bacterial vaginitis caused by Gram-positive bacteria. This drug is a bacteriostatic agent that interferes with bacterial protein synthesis. Hemolytic streptococci are usually sensitive to clindamycin because they lack B-lactamase, but sometimes they are resistant.

4. Chloramphenicol

Chloramphenicol is suitable for bacterial vaginitis caused by sensitive strains. The drug prevents bacterial growth by inhibiting the bacterial ribosome. Long-term use of chloramphenicol may cause serious adverse reactions such as gray baby syndrome and bone marrow suppression, so it is not suitable for excessive or long-term use.

5. Azithromycin

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that can effectively inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, thereby playing a bactericidal role, so it can be used to treat bacterial vaginitis. People with liver dysfunction should use azithromycin with caution. If symptoms of liver damage occur, the drug should be discontinued and medical attention should be sought immediately.

Patients can use the above drugs for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. It is also recommended to keep the vulva clean and dry, avoid excessive washing and use of highly irritating lotions, so as not to affect recovery.
