How to treat central amenorrhea

How to treat central amenorrhea

Central amenorrhea can generally be treated with medication, surgery, and psychotherapy, as follows:

1. Drug treatment: It is suitable for central amenorrhea caused by hormonal imbalance. Common drug treatments include oral contraceptives and anti-androgen drugs. Oral contraceptives can regulate hormone levels and promote the resumption of menstruation. Anti-androgen drugs can inhibit excessive androgen secretion and restore the balance of estrogen, thereby improving amenorrhea symptoms.

2. Surgical treatment: It is suitable for cases where central amenorrhea is caused by organic lesions. Common surgical treatments include hysteroscopy and laparotomy. Hysteroscopy can detect and treat diseases such as endometriosis and uterine fibroids, and restore normal menstruation. Laparotomy is often used to treat diseases such as ovarian cysts and endometrial polyps to eliminate the cause of amenorrhea.

3. Psychological treatment: It is applicable to cases where central amenorrhea is caused by psychological factors. Psychological treatment can help patients reduce stress, anxiety, depression and other emotional problems through psychological counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, etc., thereby promoting the recovery of amenorrhea.

In addition to the relatively common treatments mentioned above, there are other treatments, such as acupuncture, moxibustion and other traditional Chinese medicine treatments, which are suitable for central amenorrhea caused by qi and blood imbalance. For specific causes, individualized treatments such as hormone replacement therapy and radiotherapy can also be used. When treating central amenorrhea, the appropriate treatment should be selected according to the specific cause and patient condition.
