How to calculate the menstrual cycle? Teach you how to distinguish the four major stages

Women will have menstruation every month when they reach a certain age, but many female friends still don’t know how to calculate the menstrual cycle. Today, the editor will tell you how to calculate the menstrual cycle.

A complete menstrual cycle is calculated from the first day of menstruation to the first day of the next menstruation. The menstrual cycle is generally calculated as one month, but in fact, the length of each person's menstrual cycle is different. It is normal for menstruation to come 7-10 days in advance.

The menstrual cycle, also known as the ovarian cycle, consists of four phases: follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal phase and menstruation phase.

1. Follicular phase: The period from the first day of menstruation to the day of ovulation is called the follicular phase. During this period, due to the influence of follicle-stimulating hormone, the concentration of estrogen hormone in the female body increases, the follicles gradually mature, and the endometrium thickens.

2. Ovulation period: The process of the egg cell and the surrounding cumulus granulosa cells being discharged together is considered the ovulation period. About 14 days before the next menstrual period is the ovulation period of women.

3. Luteal phase: The luteal phase refers to the day before menstruation after the egg is discharged. Under the influence of luteinizing hormone, the ovaries secrete progesterone to maintain the thickening of the endometrium to facilitate the implantation of the fertilized egg. If the fertilized egg does not implant, the endometrium will collapse and the menstrual cycle will end with the onset of menstruation.

4. Menstrual period: Each menstrual period lasts for 2-8 days, with an average of 4-6 days. The duration of each menstrual period is the menstrual period. Usually there are no special symptoms during the menstrual period, but due to pelvic congestion and the effects of prostaglandins during menstruation, some women experience discomfort in the lower abdomen and lumbar sacral region or uterine contraction pain, and may also experience diarrhea and other gastrointestinal dysfunction symptoms.

The menstrual cycle can be long or short and does not have to be calculated on a monthly basis. As long as there is a certain regularity, it is a normal menstrual cycle. Understanding this knowledge can enable female friends to have a more comprehensive understanding of themselves and take better care of their bodies.
