Can female vaginal infection cause cervical erosion? 4 causes of cervical erosion that you should know

In life, it is very important for women to develop good personal hygiene habits, which is of great benefit to the prevention and avoidance of gynecological diseases. However, paying too much attention to the cleaning of private parts and using high-concentration detergents are harmful. Severe consequences can lead to vaginal infection in women and then cervical erosion. The result of such excessive cleaning is naturally not worth the loss. So, can vaginal infection in women cause cervical erosion?

Can vaginal infection cause cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion is a common gynecological disease, more common in married women, which refers to the complete exfoliation of the cervical mucosa, exposing the bottom tissue surface, without epithelial coverage, like an ulcer. There are many causes of cervical erosion, among which vaginal infection is one of the important factors.

Clinically, it is found that most patients with cervical erosion also have vaginal infection, and the incidence of cervical erosion in patients with vaginitis is significantly higher than that in patients without a history of vaginitis. It can be seen that cervical erosion is closely related to pathogenic microorganisms infecting the vagina. Since the cervix is located in the vagina, vaginal infection causes vaginitis, which changes the internal environment and easily causes inflammation of the cervix. Chronic inflammation causes repeated exfoliation of the cervical mucosa, which leads to cervical erosion in the long term. Therefore, cervical erosion is the result of chronic cervicitis.

What are the causes of vaginal infection and cervical erosion?

1. Excessive cleaning of the vulva: Excessive cleaning will affect the growth of normal vaginal flora, causing pathogenic bacteria to multiply, causing vaginal inflammation, and then causing cervical erosion.

2. Excessive sexual life: Excessive intensity and frequency of sexual life cause repeated mechanical stimulation to the cervical mucosa, which is also one of the causes of cervical erosion.

3. Multiple abortions: Abortions cause varying degrees of cervical damage and can easily allow pathogenic microorganisms to invade, triggering local inflammation and causing cervical erosion.

4. Unclean sexual life: Unclean sexual life can cause pathogenic microorganisms to invade the vagina. The bacteria can directly infect the cervix, and long-term stimulation can cause cervical erosion.

Do not overdo vaginal douching to treat cervical erosion

Female patients who choose to use drugs to wash their cervical erosion often have a counterproductive effect. Not only does it not cure the disease, but it also destroys the vaginal environment, causing more problems and troubles. However, doctors sometimes use vaginal washing to treat cervical erosion. Is vaginal washing useful for cervical erosion? The surface of the female vaginal mucosa is squamous epithelium, which is affected by female sex hormones and sheds periodically, which has a protective effect. At the same time, squamous epithelial cells can secrete glycogen, which is decomposed into lactic acid by lactobacilli parasitic in the vagina, thereby maintaining an acidic environment in the vagina and inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria.

Under normal circumstances, it is not recommended for women to do excessive vaginal douching, which is not beneficial to maintaining the acidic environment of the vagina, but will lead to dysbacteriosis, thus causing vaginal inflammation. Cervical erosion is not caused by bacterial infection. If disinfection, sterilization, antipruritic, and anti-inflammatory lotions are used to wash the vagina, it may destroy the protective barrier of the vagina itself, which is not only unhelpful for cervical erosion, but may also cause secondary vaginal infection. Therefore, if cervical erosion is not accompanied by vaginal inflammation, it is not recommended to use local vaginal douching lotions.
