What does progesterone mean during menopause?

During laboratory tests, the progesterone test results - the progesterone value may show a decrease. Due to the different physical constitutions of each woman, the degree of progesterone decrease during menopause is also significantly different. Female patients approaching or in menopause, which mostly occurs at the age of over 40, will have a significant decrease in hormones in the body, including a decrease in estrogen and progesterone. Patients need to go to the obstetrics and gynecology department of a public hospital for a progesterone test to determine the specific degree of decrease.

How much progesterone is a symptom of ectopic pregnancy

The test of progesterone cannot determine ectopic pregnancy. In addition to the typical clinical manifestations of ectopic pregnancy, during gynecological examination, before rupture, the uterus is enlarged and soft, but smaller than the month of amenorrhea. A small mass can be touched on one side of the appendage, with mild tenderness. After rupture, the posterior vaginal fornix is full, the cervix has pain when lifting, the uterus is slightly enlarged and soft, and there is a floating feeling when bleeding is heavy. A mass can be touched on one side of the uterus, which is soft, has unclear boundaries, and is obviously tender. The urine pregnancy test is positive, and the serum hcg is greater than or equal to 6251, but it is quantitatively measured every 48 hours, not doubling, but lower than this value. During ultrasound examination, no gestational sac is seen in the uterine cavity, and there is a low echo area next to the uterus. Non-coagulated blood can be drawn out by puncturing the posterior fornix, indicating a ruptured fallopian tube pregnancy.

Blood test progesterone level is pregnancy

In addition to monitoring progesterone, the growth and development of the fetus is mainly determined by monitoring the doubling of hcg. Progesterone alone cannot be used to determine the development of the embryo. Testing the progesterone value around six weeks of early pregnancy combined with the doubling of hcg can determine whether it is an intrauterine or ectopic pregnancy. If the doubling of hcg is good and the progesterone value is greater than 25 nanograms per milliliter, the chance of ectopic pregnancy is significantly reduced. There is no fixed gestational age for checking progesterone values. Progesterone fluctuates greatly every day and is secreted in a pulsed manner. Therefore, the progesterone values of the same pregnant woman at different times of the day will also be different. After 12 weeks of pregnancy, the placenta is formed and can secrete enough progesterone to maintain a normal pregnancy. Therefore, progesterone is mostly tested before 12 weeks. It is not very meaningful to test progesterone after 12 weeks.
