Why does cervicitis lead to infertility? 4 must-check items for diagnosing cervicitis

Cervicitis is usually diagnosed through secretion examination, which can also be called routine leucorrhea examination, including pH value, amine test, etc. Let’s see what examination items are included in the diagnosis of cervicitis?

How does cervicitis cause infertility?

When inflammation occurs, the secretions contain some white blood cell components, which the polyspermia has the effect of wrapping and phagocytosis.

Chronic cervicitis causes cervical secretions to become thick and form a foreign body, which leads to blockage of the cervical canal and is not conducive to the better combination of sperm and egg.

When the lesion develops to the cervix and vagina, it can cause abnormal changes in the body's pH, providing a breeding ground for bacteria. Pathogens and their metabolic toxins can weaken the motility of sperm. It can even cause very difficult-to-treat prenatal bleeding, which in turn endangers the safety of the fetus in the expectant mother's abdomen, so timely treatment is the key.

Essential items for diagnosing cervicitis

1. Cervical smear cytology examination

This is a routine examination for gynecological cervicitis. It is simple, easy, cost-effective, and the most important auxiliary examination and the preferred initial screening method for cancer prevention surveys.

2. Iodine test and naked eye observation method

This method is very simple and cheap, and can detect at least 2/3 of the lesions. As a preliminary screening method for cervical cancer, 3%-5% acetic acid solution is applied to the cervix. The reaction of the cervical epithelium to acetic acid is observed, and then a biopsy is taken from the white lesion area.

3. Gynecological examination

Gynecological examinations include many items and are very necessary. They mainly check the size, shape, thickness of the cervix, etc. to determine whether the cervix is abnormal; check whether the woman has contact bleeding; in addition, check the normal condition of the vagina, uterus and other tissues.

4. Colposcopy

A colposcopy can quickly detect mild cervical inflammation, and then a biopsy of the suspicious area can be performed to improve the accuracy of the examination.

Six precautions to help you effectively prevent cervicitis:

1) Pay attention to sexual hygiene, control sexual life appropriately, and resolutely put an end to extramarital sex and avoid sexual intercourse during menstruation.

2) Take timely and effective contraceptive measures to reduce the incidence of induced abortion and the chance of artificial trauma and bacterial infection.

3) Those with short menstrual cycles or prolonged menstrual periods should be actively treated.

4) Prevent instruments from damaging the cervix during delivery.

5) If cervical laceration is found after delivery, it should be sutured promptly.

6) Have regular gynecological examinations to detect cervical inflammation and provide timely treatment.

Dietary taboos for patients with cervicitis

Note 1: Avoid sweet and greasy foods

If female friends suffer from cervicitis, they should be careful not to eat overly sweet foods, such as candy, cream cake, eight-treasure rice, pork, mutton fat, egg yolks, etc., because these foods have a moistening effect, which will reduce the treatment effect of cervicitis and make the disease protracted and difficult to treat.

Note 2: Avoid drinking alcohol

Patients with cervicitis should also be careful not to drink alcohol, because tobacco and alcohol are relatively irritating and are warm and stimulating foods. If they are not banned during treatment, drinking will aggravate dampness and heat, making it difficult to achieve the expected treatment effect and may also worsen the condition.
