Is abortion anesthesia harmful to the body? Comparison of the degree of harm of the two types of abortion anesthesia

There are two main types of anesthesia for abortion: local anesthesia and general anesthesia. Anesthesia for abortion is generally not harmful to the human body, but if the anesthesia is too much, it will cause some harm to the body, and in some cases it may even be life-threatening.

1. Local anesthesia: Local anesthesia is mainly an infiltration anesthesia of the cervical opening, which can relieve the pain caused by cervical canal dilation, but has little effect on relieving pain caused by intrauterine operation and postoperative uterine contraction. Local anesthesia uses less drugs and basically does not cause harm to the human body;

2. General anesthesia: General anesthesia is mainly intravenous anesthesia. The patient loses consciousness. Anesthesia can be suspended after surgery and the patient can return to normal after a few minutes. However, anesthetics have an inhibitory effect on the brain, which may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, blood pressure fluctuations, arrhythmia, and rare malignant hyperthermia. If the drug is overdosed during surgery, it may cause respiratory depression and respiratory arrest, which is life-threatening.

Adverse reactions to anesthesia rarely occur in clinical practice, and a few allergic reactions to anesthetics may also occur. However, most adverse reactions to anesthetics disappear as the drug metabolism is completed, and usually do not cause serious harm. In addition, abortion anesthesia is also a type of abortion surgery, which may cause harm to the uterus, causing menstrual disorders, uterine perforation, and even affecting fertility.
