Is adenomyosis a tumor?

People with a family history of the disease are more likely to suffer from adenomyosis. Adenomyosis has a certain genetic tendency and familial aggregation. So, is adenomyosis a tumor?

Adenomyosis is not a tumor. Adenomyosis is a common gynecological disease in women caused by active endometrial cells implanted outside the endometrium. Endometrial cells should grow in the uterine cavity, but because the uterine cavity is connected to the pelvic cavity through the fallopian tube, endometrial cells can enter the pelvic cavity through the fallopian tube and grow ectopically.

There are many theories about the pathogenesis of adenomyosis, among which the most widely accepted is the endometrial implantation theory. Adenomyosis mostly occurs in women of childbearing age, does not occur before puberty, and the ectopic lesions gradually shrink and degenerate after menopause.

The preventive measures for adenomyosis are to keep warm and avoid cold. Girls should avoid being frightened during menstruation to avoid amenorrhea or overflow. Try not to have artificial abortion and curettage, and do a good job in family planning. During cesarean section, pay attention to prevent the solution in the uterine cavity from overflowing into the abdominal cavity. When suturing the uterine incision, do not let the suture pass through the uterus and rub inside. Use saline to flush the sutured abdominal wall incision to prevent endometrial implantation.

The preventive measures for adenomyosis include not undergoing unnecessary and repeated gynecological examinations and surgeries near the menstrual period, so as to avoid squeezing the endometrium into the fallopian tubes and causing abdominal implants.
