How to treat severe cervical erosion? 7 complications of severe cervical erosion

Cervical erosion is a common gynecological disease in clinical practice. When the disease progresses to severe cervical erosion, patients must actively seek treatment. Severe cervical erosion can cause various gynecological complications, seriously endangering women's health. Once cancer occurs, the treatment of female patients becomes more difficult and dangerous. Therefore, patients with cervical erosion should receive timely treatment in the early stages. Delaying the disease will lead to endless troubles. What are the complications of severe cervical erosion?

Complications of severe cervical erosion

1. Vulvitis

Common symptoms include itching, burning and pain in the vulva, which worsens during activity, sexual intercourse and urination. In the acute phase, there is redness, swelling and congestion. In the chronic phase, there is pain, itching, cracking and lichenification of the vulva. Some patients experience swelling, congestion, erosion and patchy eczema on the inner side of the labia minora.

2. Adnexitis

Adnexitis refers to inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries.

3. Cervical polyps

Long-term inflammatory stimulation of erosion may cause excessive proliferation and hypertrophy of local cells to form polyps.

4. Cervical cancer

Will severe cervical erosion turn into cancer? As we all know, cervical cancer is one of the most common gynecological malignant tumors. Globally, more than 200,000 women die from cervical cancer every year. Severe cervical erosion can also easily lead to cervical cancer.

5. Urinary tract infection

The infection can affect the upper and lower urinary tract, and because of the difficulty in localization, it is collectively called urine sensation.

6. Difficulty in conceiving

When severe cervical erosion occurs, cervical secretions will increase significantly, become thick in texture, and contain a large number of white blood cells. This will have an adverse effect on sperm motility, hinder sperm from entering the uterine cavity, and affect conception.

7. Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease refers to inflammation of the female pelvic reproductive organs, connective tissue around the uterus, and pelvic peritoneum.

How to treat severe cervical erosion

1. Physical therapy

At present, physical therapy is the most widely used method for treating cervical erosion in clinical practice. It has the advantages of a relatively short course of treatment and very good efficacy. It is very effective in treating symptoms of large erosion areas and deep inflammatory infiltration. Physical therapy includes electric ironing, laser therapy and cryotherapy, but electric ironing can only be used 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over.

2. Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen as a cooling source to freeze, necrotize, and fall off eroded tissues through rapid cooling tools. Patients rarely bleed after surgery, but vaginal discharge is high, which generally lasts for two to three weeks. Necrotic tissues will fall off after six weeks, and the wound will begin to heal after eight weeks.

3. Electric ironing treatment

When using electric iron to treat cervical erosion, the head of the electric iron should be pressed on the eroded surface, and the pressure should be sufficient to press back and forth from the inside to the outside, until it slightly exceeds the eroded surface. After the operation, a little gentian violet can be applied. The patient will have more vaginal secretions within two to three days, a small amount of vaginal bleeding within two weeks, and the wound will shed scabs after two to three weeks, and the squamous epithelium will begin to repair.
