What will happen if women do not treat cervical erosion? Experts explain common knowledge about cervical erosion

Experts say that cervical erosion often occurs in the cervical vaginal part of the external os of the cervix, and appears as a fine granular red area. The main clinical symptoms are changes in the color, quality, quantity, and taste of leucorrhea. Usually, the amount of leucorrhea is large, milky white and mucous, sometimes light yellow purulent, or accompanied by a certain odor, and some also have polyps formed.

Cervical erosion can often affect pregnancy due to the following situations: the cervical secretions increase and are mixed with a large number of white blood cells and pathogenic bacteria, which destroys the normal physiological environment of the vagina, limits the activity of sperm, shortens the survival time, and the cervical mucosa proliferates due to inflammatory stimulation, and polyps may grow to block the cervical opening, directly affecting the smooth passage of sperm, causing the sperm to lose vitality, hindering the survival and movement of sperm, and preventing them from penetrating the cervix into the uterine cavity, thus leading to infertility.

Experts remind that there is a certain correlation between cervical erosion and infertility, but there is no absolute inevitability. As long as the correct treatment is carried out and the cervical erosion is cured or improved, pregnancy is very likely.

The treatment of cervical erosion, after excluding early cervical cancer, is mainly local treatment. If the erosion area is large or the inflammatory infiltration is deep, surgical treatment can be used.

Whether it is surgical treatment or drug treatment, the principle is to cause the columnar epithelium on the erosion surface to necrotize, scab, and fall off, and then be covered by new squamous epithelium.

During the period from treatment to complete healing, care should be taken to keep the vulva clean, avoid bathing, sexual intercourse and vaginal douching, and check the healing status regularly. It is particularly important to note that improper treatment, such as improper operation and use of electric irons and laser treatments, may cause scarring or stenosis of the cervical opening, which may also affect pregnancy.

Experts also remind female friends that artificial abortion must be done in a regular hospital to prevent infection caused by the operation, which can lead to gynecological diseases. Of course, there are many other reasons for infertility, and you should go to the hospital for a detailed examination and then treat the symptoms.
