Cervical erosion is a very common gynecological disease that troubles the lives and work of many women. What is cervical erosion? Will cervical erosion affect pregnancy? These are questions that many female friends are concerned about. The following experts will introduce relevant knowledge about cervical erosion to you. Let's learn about it together. The specific manifestation of cervical erosion is a fine granular red area in the cervical vaginal part at the external os of the cervix. The boundary of the eroded surface is clearly demarcated from the normal cervical epithelium. It has now been renamed "cervical columnar epithelium ectopia". "Cervical erosion" is not a true ulceration of epithelial shedding and ulceration, nor is it equivalent to the pathological diagnostic criteria for chronic cervicitis. Cervical erosion-like changes may be physiological columnar epithelial ectopia, that is, the squamous epithelium of the cervical vagina is replaced by the columnar epithelium of the endocervical canal; it may also be pathological, such as congestion and edema of the cervical columnar epithelium during inflammation, or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early manifestations of cervical cancer. 1. Pathological cervical erosion The erosion surface is covered by a complete single layer of endocervical columnar epithelium. Due to the low resistance of the endocervical columnar epithelium, pathogens can easily invade and cause inflammation. In the early stage of inflammation, the erosion surface is only covered by a single layer of columnar epithelium, and the surface is flat, which is called simple erosion; then due to excessive proliferation of glandular epithelium and accompanied by stromal hyperplasia, the erosion surface is uneven and granular, which is called granular erosion; when the stromal hyperplasia is significant, the surface unevenness is more obvious and papillary, which is called papillary erosion. 2. Physiological cervical erosion In another case, in young girls or unmarried women, the cervix is sometimes red and granular, resembling erosion. But in fact, there is no obvious inflammation, it is caused by the outward migration of the columnar epithelium of the cervical canal, and it is not pathological cervical erosion. Does cervical erosion affect pregnancy? Cervical erosion-like changes are a normal physiological phenomenon. As long as there are no discomfort symptoms such as contact bleeding, abnormal leucorrhea, and lower abdominal distension, and the cervical cytology examination is normal, it will not affect fertility. Even if patients with cervical erosion-like changes have mild inflammation, it will not affect conception. If cervical erosion is accompanied by inflammation, such as purulent leucorrhea in the cervix, or infection with pathogens such as chlamydia or gonococci, the cervical mucus will become thick and contain a large number of white blood cells, which is not conducive to the activity and penetration of sperm and will affect conception. Women should treat the inflammation before preparing for pregnancy. |
