What causes uterine fibroids? What are the factors that induce uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids, also known as uterine leiomyoma, are the most common benign tumors of the female genitalia. Most are asymptomatic, while a few present with vaginal bleeding, abdominal tumors, and compression symptoms. So what are uterine fibroids?

At present, the cause of uterine fibroids is still unclear, which may be related to excessive estrogen levels in the body and long-term estrogen stimulation. Multiple uterine fibroids are occasionally seen in women after menarche, but more common in middle-aged women. After menopause, fibroids stop growing and gradually shrink; multiple uterine fibroids are often complicated by endometrial hyperplasia; patients with ovarian granulosa cell tumors and theca cell tumors (which can secrete estrogen) often have uterine fibroids; during pregnancy, estrogen levels increase, and fibroids increase rapidly; exogenous estrogen can accelerate the growth of fibroids.

Uterine fibroids usually occur between the ages of 35 and 50. They are usually multiple, and the above different types of fibroids can occur in the same uterus at the same time, which is called multiple uterine fibroids. While paying attention to the causes of multiple uterine fibroids, we should also know that according to statistics, about 20% of women over the age of 35 suffer from multiple uterine fibroids, but most patients cannot detect them because the fibroids are small and asymptomatic.

Multiple uterine fibroids are common in middle-aged women. They stop growing and gradually shrink after menopause. This also describes the cause of multiple uterine fibroids. Endometrial hyperplasia and multiple uterine fibroids, ovarian granulosa cell tumors, and theca cell tumors (which can secrete estrogen) are often accompanied by uterine fibroids. The level of estrogen increases during pregnancy, and fibroids increase rapidly. Exogenous estrogen can accelerate the growth of fibroids. These are all about the causes of multiple uterine fibroids. I hope that understanding the causes of multiple uterine fibroids can help female friends prevent multiple uterine fibroids.
