What are the surgical methods for uterine fibroids? Will uterine fibroids recur after surgery?

Uterine fibroids are one of the most common benign tumors in the female reproductive organs and one of the most common tumors in the human body. They are also called fibroids and uterine fibroids. Because uterine fibroids are mainly composed of the proliferation of uterine smooth muscle cells and a small amount of fibrous connective tissue exists as supporting tissue, they are more accurately called uterine leiomyoma. Uterine fibroids.

The main surgical methods for uterine fibroids are as follows:

Myomectomy: Suitable for infertile patients or young patients who do not want to remove the uterus. After myomectomy, there is still a possibility of recurrence due to the multi-center origin of fibroids.

Hysteroscopic surgery: An endoscope is placed in the uterine cavity through the vagina to remove protruding fibroids in the uterine cavity. It is suitable for submucosal fibroids and some intramural fibroids. It requires high surgical skills.

Uterine fibroid twisting: only suitable for some cervical fibroids, which are located lower and can twist the fibroids directly from the vagina.

Vaginal Surgery: Vaginal myoma torsion and vaginal hysterectomy are feasible for mildly sagging or lax uterus, especially for patients with uterine prolapse.

Hysterectomy: Suitable for patients who have no fertility requirements or are near menopause. Whether the ovaries are removed at the same time depends on the patient's age. It is generally recommended to perform a total hysterectomy during hysterectomy without retaining the cervix (subtotal hysterectomy) because the remaining cervix may still have fibroids.
