Is uterine fibroid a benign tumor? The best treatment for uterine fibroid surgery

Uterine fibroids are called uterine leiomyoma, which is the most common benign tumor in the female genitalia. Most of them are asymptomatic, and a few show vaginal bleeding, abdominal contact with the tumor, and compression symptoms. For example, pedicle torsion or other conditions can cause pain, which is common in multiple uterine fibroids. So, what is the best method for uterine fibroid surgery? The age of onset is usually 35 years old women, and about 20% have uterine fibroids, but because the tumor develops slowly and has no clinical symptoms, in some cases, the disease is accidentally discovered during a physical examination, so most people do not receive earlier treatment or even no treatment.

Traditional treatments: (1) Drug treatment: long course of treatment, slow effect, high cost, easy to cause endocrine disorders, osteoporosis, liver and kidney dysfunction, large side effects, patients often rebound after stopping medication, and cannot be completely cured.

(2) Laparotomy: This is the traditional laparotomy to remove the uterus and its appendages. It is very harmful to women, such as postoperative infection, rapid aging, decreased femininity, and postoperative recurrence. It is also very painful, costly, and slow to recover.

(3) Radiotherapy: It is used for patients with small fibroids, ineffective drug treatment, and contraindications to surgery. Radiotherapy usually causes menopause, secondary inflammation, and other side effects, and has many contraindications. It is an uncommon treatment method. Minimally invasive surgery has both diagnostic and therapeutic effects: laparoscopy can replace most laparotomies. A typical example is pelvic inflammatory adhesions. Due to the use of laparoscopes, patients and doctors can avoid blind laparotomy. On the other hand, laparoscopic diagnosis can be performed simultaneously with surgical treatment, especially in diseases such as ectopic pregnancy, ovarian rupture, and infertility. Its advantages are more obvious. Minimally invasive surgery is a better way to treat uterine fibroids.
