What is curettage and how to avoid pain

What is curettage and how to do it without pain? Curettage is not only a diagnostic operation, but also an abortion operation. For women who are about to have a curettage, they must be worried about whether it will be painful.

What is dilatation and curettage?
Curettage refers to a procedure to scrape the endometrium or uterine cavity contents, which can be divided into diagnostic curettage and therapeutic curettage.
Diagnostic curettage is divided into general curettage and segmental curettage. General curettage is suitable for endocrine abnormalities, which require understanding of endometrial changes and responses to sex hormones, whether ovulation occurs, whether there are tuberculosis and other symptoms. Segmental diagnostic curettage means scraping the cervical canal first, then scraping the uterine cavity, and sending the scraped materials for pathological examination to diagnose cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and other uterine malignancies, and understand the scope of cancer.
Therapeutic curettage can be divided into suction curettage and forceps curettage. Curettage is to suck out the contents of the uterine cavity with a negative pressure suction tube, and curettage is to remove the contents of the uterine cavity with an oval forceps and then curettage. The indications for therapeutic curettage include: those who want to terminate the pregnancy in early pregnancy, suction curettage within 3 months of pregnancy, and forceps curettage for more than 3 months of induced labor to remove the residues in the uterine cavity.
How long does the pain of curettage last?
For doctors who are experienced in curettage, the operation takes a very short time, usually about 3 minutes, so the pain of curettage usually lasts about 5-10 minutes (the pain will continue for a while after the curettage).
Does curettage hurt?
Curettage is a minor operation that belongs to artificial abortion, which mainly refers to the operation of scraping the endometrium or the contents of the uterine cavity. No matter how gentle the doctor is, there will be some pain in the curettage, but the curettage operation time is very short, so the pain stimulation time will not be too long.
How to avoid pain during curettage?
At present, many curettages are painless because anesthetics are injected before the curettage, which is called painless curettage. Painless curettage is different from abortion. Painless curettage is not only suitable for abortion, but also for diagnosis.
