What are the examination items for threatened abortion? Threatened abortion is a problem that many pregnant women have encountered, and many people have successfully welcomed their babies because of timely treatment. Therefore, you don’t need to be too nervous about the occurrence of threatened abortion, but you can’t ignore it. It is still necessary to conduct timely examination and treatment. So what are the examination items for threatened abortion?

1. Medical history

Whether there is a history of recurrent miscarriage, abdominal pain, fever, changes in vaginal discharge, etc.

2. Physical examination

Body temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, etc. Gynecological examination to see if the cervix is dilated, if the amniotic sac is bulging, and whether the size of the uterus is consistent with the number of weeks of amenorrhea.

3. Determination of blood progesterone level

Recent studies have found that the determination of blood progesterone levels is more accurate in determining the prognosis of pregnancy. If the blood progesterone level is lower than 5 nanograms per milliliter (5ng/ml), whether it is an intrauterine pregnancy or an ectopic pregnancy, it generally indicates that the pregnancy has died.

4. Laboratory testing

Laboratory tests for "human chorionic gonadotropin" (HCG for short) are a way to test whether it is early pregnancy. If the level of human chorionic gonadotropin is low in the early stage, or there is a trend of decrease, the possibility of miscarriage should be considered.

5. Ultrasound examination

Through B-ultrasound examination, the gestational sac can be seen about 35 days after the last menstrual period, and the primitive heart tube pulsation of the fetus can be seen after 42 days; through abdominal B-ultrasound, the gestational sac can be seen 35 to 42 days after the last menstrual period, and the primitive heart tube pulsation of the fetus can be seen 49 days after the last menstrual period.

6. Urine pregnancy test or determination of β-subunit levels in blood

Positive urine pregnancy test: At 33 to 35 days after menstruation, when the gestational sac is seen by vaginal ultrasound, the beta subunit level in the blood is about 1800 milliunits/ml (mlu/ml), and it can reach 20,000 to 1800 milliunits/ml on 49 days. Values below this generally indicate a poor prognosis.
