How to check cervical warts

How to check cervical warts

Cervical warts are not only an infectious disease, but also one of the STDs with a relatively high recurrence rate. Suffering from cervical warts often brings a lot of inconvenience to the patient's life and work. So how to check for cervical warts? The following is a detailed introduction for everyone.

1. Acetowhite test: Wrap or apply gauze soaked in acetic acid solution on the suspicious skin or mucosal surface, then remove it. Typical cervical warts will show white papules or warts, while subclinical infection will show white patches or spots. The acetowhite test is a simple and easy inspection method for identifying early cervical warts and subclinical infection.

2. Colposcopy Colposcopy is mainly used to observe the mucosa of the cervix and vagina, and can be used to examine the vulva and vaginal epithelium. Patients should avoid vaginal douching and sexual intercourse before examination. The cervix is covered with gauze soaked in acetic acid solution and then examined with a colposcopy. For white patches or spots with clear boundaries, further samples should be taken for histopathological examination.

3. Histopathological examination showed papilloma-like hyperplasia of the epidermis and thickening of the spinous layer. There was mild hyperkeratosis and parakeratosis on the surface. Vacuolated cells were seen in the spinous cells and granular layer. The cell bodies were large, with a round, dark-stained nucleus, perinuclear vacuolation, and light staining. There were filaments connecting the nuclear membrane and the serosa, making the cells look like cat's eyes.

4. Cytology is mainly used to check whether the female vagina or cervical epithelium is infected with HPV. Cells are scraped from the tested area and smeared on a glass slide, fixed with alcohol; the Papanicolaou staining method is often used for testing.
