How to prevent and care for Bartholinitis

How to prevent and care for Bartholinitis

Bartholinitis is caused by bad hygiene habits, which often leads to symptoms such as urination pain, swollen inguinal lymph nodes, and local abscesses. If not treated in time, it is easy to develop more serious diseases. So, what kind of prevention and care measures should be taken for Bartholinitis?

Nursing points:

1. During the acute phase, rest in bed, take antibiotics and symptomatic treatment as prescribed by the doctor, and use local hot compresses or sitz baths with traditional Chinese medicines such as dandelion, viola yedoensis, and forsythia to clear heat and detoxify.

2. After the abscess or cyst is incised, the local drainage strip needs to be replaced every day. The vulva is scrubbed with a cotton ball containing 1:5000 chlorhexidine (chlorhexidine) twice a day; after the wound is healed, a sitz bath with 1:8000 furazolidone is used twice a day.

The main preventive measures for Bartholinitis are:

1. Pay attention to personal hygiene, keep the vulva clean, and wash the vulva 12 times a day.

2. During menstruation, the vulva is contaminated by menstrual blood, which makes it more susceptible to infection. Therefore, the vulva should be cleaned once every night during menstruation, but be careful not to let water flow into the vagina.

3. Avoid sexual intercourse during menstruation. Bartholin's gland infection often occurs on one side. The pathogen first invades the gland duct, causing the duct opening to become red, swollen, and blocked. The inflammation develops deep into the gland, causing the entire gland to form an inflammatory mass, causing local redness, swelling, heat, and pain; if the gland is infected and purulent, the duct opening is blocked, and the pus cannot flow out, it becomes a Bartholin's gland abscess. After the abscess is formed, the pain becomes more severe, and sometimes there are systemic symptoms such as fever, chills, and rapid pulse; the inguinal lymph nodes on the affected side sometimes swell and are obviously tender.

The above is the treatment principle of Bartholinitis. I hope that patients with Bartholinitis can try it appropriately according to their condition. In addition, in daily life, we should develop good living habits, especially our own hygiene habits, and actively participate in outdoor exercise, which is very effective in preventing this disease.
